Mariachi Latino Band is a group of 10 musicians, 9 of them with Latin roots and one Canadian! We are located in the Prairies, Regina Sk Canada.

In our Mariachi Band we play different instruments such as violins, guitars, guitarron, vihuela, trumpet and even saxophone. Most of the members sing as well. 

We play for birthday celebrations, for mother's day events, cultural events and any other event where you may need us!

We will make sure that people at your event sing, dance, or even just listen to music and have a great time.

What is mariachi culture?

Mariachi is a traditional Mexican music and a fundamental element of Mexican culture. Traditional Mariachi groups, made up of two or more members, wear regional costumes adapted from the charro costume and interpret a broad repertoire of songs on stringed instruments.

Who invented mariachi music?

The mariachi orchestra emerged in the late 1700s or early 1800s in west-central Mexico. The word mariachi may have come from the now-extinct language of the Coca Indians, but both the word's etymology and the early history of the form and its followers are unknown.

The charro outfit is one that is associated with Mexico around the world. It is seen as a national emblem and a way to express personal pride in Mexican heritage.

Is mariachi a type of dance?

Mariachi is meant to be danced to! You can hardly stand still while listening to this fantastic music. There are two main styles of mariachi dancing you are probably familiar with. Zapateado resembles the Irish Riverdance style, with driving heels of boots into the platform at high speeds to the rhythm of the music.
